TEXAS PERFORMING ARTS.

It's party time!

Over the past semester Hook ‘em Arts has been working to plan a student event as a part of the two-week opening celebrations for Bass Concert Hall. As we inch closer to winter break, we are getting even closer to finalizing all the details for the event.

The Music and Entertainment Committee (MEC) is co-presenting the Broken Social Scene show with the Performing Arts Center. This is a huge deal because the MEC is a student organization with an amazing group of students working to bring various musical acts to campus. With such insightful individuals working together, they always put on great shows. I think it’s safe to say that when it comes to good musical taste, those in MEC are definitely the big men (and women) on campus. Their past shows have definitely lent themselves to giving this group some serious street cred.

For this reason, Hook ‘em Arts is excited to continue the fun that evening by throwing a student-exclusive after-show party. Taking place on various levels of the Bass lobby, students will be entertained for a couple of hours after the show. A DJ will spin tracks near a dance area for those inclined to bust a move. Several student organizations will host various activities, some being internationally themed to coincide with the Performing Arts Center’s mission of Bringing the World to Austin. All in all, the night will be loads of fun!

Hook ‘em Arts hopes that this event will reintroduce UT students to Bass and the Performing Arts Center. Our hope is that students not only feel welcome in this space, but also that they rediscover all the wonderful opportunities available to them as University of Texas students. We hope this party will be the beginning of a long-standing relationship between the Performing Arts Center and UT students, a relationship that can be improved and nurtured for years to come.
