Texas Performing Arts brings you the first of two distinct performances curated by world-renowned violinist and musical archivist Daniel Hope. A distinguishing feature of this program is a work for string quartet and baritone by contemporary Czech composer Sylvie Bodorova. The work features the Miró Quartet, BSOM faculty Quartet and their faculty colleague, baritone David Small, and uses text from the Requiem of the Latin mass, to pay tribute to the many artists that were interned at Terezin. The performance also includes works by Pavel Haas, Gideon Klein and Maurice Ravel.

“A violinist of probing intellect and commanding style. In his most personal undertakings, he puts classical works within a broader context – to emphasize music’s role as a mirror for struggle and aspiration.” -NEW YORK TIMES
