Presented in partnership with the Austin Classical Guitar Society, the Butler School of Music and Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies

Texas Performing Arts invites you to a very special evening with early-music icon Jordi Savall and an assembly of musicians to present his latest offering of historical world music. For this impressive program performed in the intimate Bates Recital Hall, Savall brings together an all-star gathering of players including his renowned Hespèrion XXI ensemble, vocal ensemble La Capella Reial de Catalunya, Mexico’s baroque outfit Tembembe Ensamble Continuo, and his wife and long-time musical partner Montserrat Figueras.

Recognized as one of the most important performers of ancient music, Jordi Savall is easily one of the most multifaceted music personalities of his generation: viol player, conductor, and creator of an unmistakable style. His concerts, pedagogical and research activities place him among the main architects of the present process of revaluation and revival of historical music. With over 100 recordings to his credit, Savall is instrumental in restoring an essential repertoire.
