GRAMMY AWARD WINNING AND MULTI-PLATINUM ARTIST
SEAL
ANNOUNCES DATE AT THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER’S
BASS CONCERT HALL
TUESDAY, APRIL 28, 2009, 8PM
U.S. Tour On Heels of Sold Out South American and European Tours,
And Recent Chart-Topping Album Release SOUL
Award-winning vocalist and songwriter Seal will stop in Austin on his upcoming American tour to play the Performing Arts Center’s Bass Concert Hall, Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 8PM. Hot on the heels of hugely successful South American and European tours, this North American jaunt will support the release of Seal’s chart-topping new album, SOUL, on Warner Bros. Records which has sold more than 2 million albums worldwide since its release in November. It is the best-selling artist’s sixth studio album and was created in partnership with legendary producer David Foster.
Tickets for Seal go on sale Friday, February 27 at noon at the following authorized ticket outlets, which include the Bass Concert Hall, most H-E-B stores and all Texas Box Office outlets, online at www.utpac.org, or by calling (512) 477-6060 or (800) 982-BEVO.
SOUL is comprised of twelve soul classics that each evokes their own drama, emotion and romance. Acclaimed by critics and fans worldwide for his tremendous talents as a vocalist, producer David Foster is often quoted as saying “this is the album Seal was born to sing”.
Seal’s live shows have become famous for their impressive production values. This show will be unique for Seal in that it will feature many of his best known hits, alongside songs from the new album SOUL, all packaged within a dramatic and entertaining visual experience.
The London-born singer first emerged from Britain’s house music scene in the early ’90s providing vocals and lyrics for techno artist Adamski’s 1990 hit “Killer.” The Top Ten debut single, “Crazy,” followed and Seal would go on to earn critical acclaim and worldwide commercial success over five albums. Seal’s prodigious vocal gifts — his soaring, husky baritone that has become a signature on such hits as “Prayer for the Dying,” “Kiss From a Rose,” and “Don’t Cry” — amplify the emotion he brings to a song.
The 2009 Spring tour will consist of Seal and his band members: Mark Summerlin (guitar/vocals), Marcus Brown (bass/keys/vocals), Steve Sidelnyk (drums). The show will also feature Peter Cincotti as opening act. The youngest artist to ever top the Billboard Jazz charts, Peter’s new pop album of original material, East of Angel Town, was just released to rave reviews.
