PA2C “Educate, Enlighten and Entertain”

PA2C PROGRAM CONTINUES TO EDUCATE, ENLIGHTEN AND ENTERTAIN

The Performing Arts Center’s Community Relations department continued its third year of the Performing Arts and Academic Collaborative (PA2C), providing artistic performances for Del Valle school district middle and high school students.

Supported by a generous grant from the Texas Women for the Arts, PA2C is a multi-year, interdisciplinary program that integrates artistic performances with the middle and high school English/ Language Arts curriculum in Del Valle ISD. Though this collaboration, Del Valle students in classes of 2010, 2012 and 2014 experience the performing arts in their schools and on the UT campus. These experiences are then carried into the students’ English/Language Arts classrooms to serve as inspiration for the academic work they do. The program, which began in the fall of 2006, will continue with students through graduation

Recent PA2C events include Austin Taiko, a local group performing on traditional Japanese drums that performed for Ojeda and Del Valle Middle Schools in September; a visit to Del Valle high school by Austin Shakespeare in October; and a performance by the UT Butler School of Music Steel Pan Ensemble in October.

UT Butler School of Music Jazz Orchestra will play for 11th grade students at UT in November.
