The University of Texas Department of Theatre and Dance presents a new adaptation of Euripides ancient tragedy, The Trojan Women, October 30 – November 8 at the Oscar G. Brockett Theatre.
Combining contemporary sensibilities with classic text, this new adaptation by 2nd year MFA in Playwriting candidates, Meghan Kennedy and Kimber Lee, “is breathtaking”, director and 2nd year MFA in Directing candidate Halena Kays describes. “They’ve incorporated some incredible theatricality and action into this beautiful story that will make for a thrilling show. There are fights, dances, a band and a show stopping rock and roll number… This is not your ordinary Trojan Women.”
Halena Kays most recently conceived and directed 101 Ways to… for the 2009 University Co-op Presents the Cohen New Works Festival and directed Lidless for UT New Theatre (UTNT.)
