Four-time Grammy Award winner Lyle Lovett is equally comfortable in pop, rock, blues and country. Born just outside Houston, Lovett is one of America’s great songwriters and has a gift for big band arrangements that has no precedent among his contemporaries. He also displays a literary talent that has made him part of the tradition of American ironists.
Lovett is celebrating the release of his new album, Natural Forces. Texas is the common theme running throughout Natural Forces with Lovett-penned originals and songs written by Texas songwriters Lovett admires including Eric Taylor, Vince Bell, Robert Earl Keen and Townes Van Zandt. Recorded with his legendary Large Band, many of Lovett’s arrangements on Natural Forces are subtle and hauntingly beautiful while others display his wry sense of humor and penchant for the up-tempo arrangements he’s known for.
