“Superb…Pure-toned instrumental textures, smoothly blended ensemble and sterling musicianship…marvelous.” – Chicago Tribune
The Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet (Philharmonisches Bläserquintett Berlin) has virtually redefined the sound of
the classical wind quintet bringing extraordinary artistic skill, passion and gravitas to world stages. With wind instruments’ hallmark lightness and exuberance, the members of this elite musical group succeed in providing a unity in tone that is both powerful and beautiful. Founded in 1988, during the era of Herbert von Karajan, this was the first permanently established wind quintet in the renowned orchestra’s rich tradition of chamber music.

W. A. Mozart: Fantasy f-minor KV 608 for a mechanical organ
Arranged by Michael Hasel
Anton Reicha: Quintet in D Major

I have been submerged in
I have been submerged in classical music since my childhood but was frankly ignorant of the repertoire for wind quintets. Hence, my delight with this performance, particularly the Barber and the Nielsen quintets. The musicians were superb. First, they have an incredible technical command of their individual instruments. Most importantly, however, is their artistry, i.e., the blending of the sounds into the generation of an emotional climate. At some point during the performance I lost sense of where I was and was transported to an “elsewhere” in which only the music was. This is a unique sensation that I have experience very few times. Thanks,
Concert
we saw you in austin texas-ABSOLUTLY FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!
WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!
Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet
First rate. I’m glad they are coming again, in two years. Next – the Berlin Octet, then the full orchestra~
Berline Phil. Wind Quintet
Berline Phil. Wind Quintet was the best musical performance I’ve seen at UT. All the musicians were fabulous. We particularly liked the Reicha & Nielson pieces.
It was really good. I want
It was really good. I want to hear them perform again!
Berlin wind instruments
Fabulous group! They worked together beautifully and had a marvelous program. That said, I wish the evening offered a variety of sounds (say a short break provided by a local pianist or something) to break it up. I know that signals a Yahoo. But then I would appreciate their return even more.
