PAAC PAST EVENTS

2006-2007 (YEAR 1)

The 7th and 9th grade students in Del Valle cheered the dancers of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and enjoyed visiting the UT campus. The 7th graders danced to the music of Los Cenzontles and gasped at the end of El Automóvil Gris. The 9th graders laughed along with The Intergalactic Nemesis and screamed for Aurelio Martinez, Andy Palacio, and Paul Nabor. – photos from the events

The 7th and 9th grade English teachers participated as chaperons, scholars, and friends as they shepherded their students through this program. They even had a chance to enjoy the art along the way. The teachers also worked hard to incorporate students’ experiences through the program into their English and Language Arts classrooms.

2007-2008 (YEAR 2)

In the 2007-2008 academic year, PA2C utilized the amazing talent that exists right on the UT campus in the students and faculty at the College of Fine Arts and taps into similar talent in the Austin community. In September, all 8th and 10th grade students were treated to The Magic Flute, performed by students in UT’s Butler Opera program. In December, the 8th graders enjoyed a performance by UT’s Ethnomusicology Caribbean Ensemble, directed by Professor Robin Moore. While 10th grade students read Joy Luck Club, by Amy Tan, they witnessed a performance by Austin Taiko, a local Japanese taiko drumming group, to complete their study of Asian culture. March brought a performance by School of Music faculty members Bion Tsang and Anton Nel for the 8th graders and a performance by UT South American Ensemble for the 10th graders. – photos from the events
