About

Situated on the main campus of one of the largest and most prestigious research universities in the country, Texas Performing Arts serves The University of Texas at Austin campus and the Austin community at large through a diverse season of world-class fine arts performances, educational activities, and collaborative partnerships.
Texas Performing Arts presents an international season of music, theatre, dance, and conversation in our multiple venues, as well as the best in touring Broadway productions and concert attractions. As a university-based arts center we are also committed to serving the academic mission of the College of Fine Arts by supporting the work of our students, faculty and staff on our stages, classrooms, studios and production shops; and in the educational outreach programs we provide for the Austin community.
STUDENTS ARE OUR PRIMARY FOCUS
University of Texas students are at the core of our commitment to the academic mission, and Texas Performing Arts demonstrates that commitment by engaging students in all aspects of the performing arts business. Students learn as they work in our audio, costume, properties, lighting, and scene shops; alongside our staff in our marketing, development and business offices; and as ushers, stagehands and house managers in our many venues. We also engage the larger student population by offering $10 student tickets to each of our world-class fine arts performances, subsidized by over $100,000 annually in ticket discounts. By engaging students as patrons and/or employees, we are doing our part to create the next generation of life long arts professionals and patrons.
CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Texas Performing Arts expands the power and reach of the performing arts by offering educational programs designed to connect UT faculty, students, touring artists and the community through artist-directed symposia, workshops, lectures, post-performance talkbacks, demonstrations, master classes, artist residencies, brown bag lunches and youth performances. We also provide tickets to schools, university students, homebound seniors, and persons with special needs to attend our main stage performances.
The Campus and Community Engagement Insider’s Guide, available free of charge at our venues, on our website and at other community locations, is designed to acquaint patrons with the full scope of our programs and events taking place across campus and in the community.

ARTESAMÉRICAS PROMOTES CULTURAL EXCHANGE
Texas Performing Arts’ ArtesAméricas program plans, facilitates and executes performance, educational and professional exchanges between performing artists from Latin America and students, faculty and staff in the College of Fine Arts to broaden understanding, appreciation, and support for the performing arts in both cultures.
Since its inception in 2002, ArtesAméricas has worked with dozens of artists from across the Americas on a wide variety of activities. Ongoing ArtesAméricas collaborations include partnerships with the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies, the Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice at the UT School of Law, and the Mesoamerica Center in the Department of Art & Art History.
Most ArtesAméricas educational events are free and open to the public. For more information, please visit artesamericas.org or call 512-475-7116.
